CUNY – NYCSEF

NYCSEF is the largest high school research competition in NYC and is sponsored through a partnership between the NYC Department of Education and City University of New York (CUNY). NYCSEF’s mission is to celebrate and highlight the innovation of New York City’s high school scholars conducting STEM research, while inspiring enthusiasm and appreciation for scientific inquiry. Each year, approximately 700 students participate from across the five boroughs, presenting their research to a panel of STEM professionals who volunteer as judges and compete for a variety of prizes.

PINS

Program: Adobe Illustrator CC, Procreate

These collections of pins were made for the New York City Science and Engineering Fair, also known as NYCSEF. These pins are given to contestants of the science fair as a prize. Most of the pins are either related to New York City or to the fair in some way.

MEDALS

Program: Adobe Illustrator CC, Procreate

These are standard medal designs that were created for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finalists at the fair with over 1.1k+ participants. The designs will continue to be used longterm for upcoming science fairs.

BADGE

Program: Adobe Illustrator CC, Procreate

The medal design was fully colored and used as a Girl Scout‘s badge. These were given to girl scouts who went to the Preliminary Round of the New York City Science and Engineering Fair.

INTERACTIVE BOOKLET

Program: Adobe InDesign CC , Adobe Illustrator CC, Procreate

Students that went to the science fair were all given this interactive booklet to use. NYCSEF participants held onto stickers to give these students. The booklet included every competing category in the fair with a personal information section and two questions at the end on their final thoughts.  The purpose of the booklet was to encourage the students to interact with the participants. The cover of the passport includes the NYCSEF logo and a small illustration of a tardigrade, which are micro-animals with eight legs that dwell in water.
